These are general purpose 5mm LED Blue in color (10Pack) with diffused lens and good brightness.

Ds with diffused lens and good brightness that work well for general indicator use.

The shorter of the two leads and flat side of the housing denotes the cathode.

For size comparison, a 3mm, 5mm and 10mm LED are shown to the right.

A current limiting series resistor is needed to protect the LED and/or the device being used to drive it.

A larger resistor of around 150- 470 ohm can be used to reduce current at a lower brightness.

Remember to never plug any LED directly to the power supply or it will destroy it!
