10mm LED Blue

These are general purpose large 10mm Blue LEDs with diffused lens and good brightness.

These are general purpose 10mm LED Blue with diffused lens and good brightness that work well for general indicator use. The large size is handy when a larger indicator is desired.

The shorter of the two leads denotes the cathode.  Note that there is usually a flat surface on both sides of the housing, so you cannot rely on that as the cathode indication.

For size comparison, a 3mm, 5mm and 10mm LED are shown to the right.

The LEDs are logic compatible with a max drive current of 20mA and a forward voltage drop of approximately 2V.

A current limiting series resistor is needed to protect the LED and/or the device being used to drive it.

At an operating voltage of 5V a series voltage dropping resistor of 150 ohms will provide max brightness.  A larger resistor of around 220- 470 ohm can be used to reduce current at a lower brightness.
